CS2 chicken skins are officially becoming a thing.
After Chicken Eggs started appearing in Weekly Care Packages following the September 22 update, players and dataminers quickly found dozens of different pet chicken colors hidden inside Counter-Strike 2.
The short answer is that the current game data shows 34 adult chicken color variants spread across three breeds: Catalana, Silkie and Polish.
You may have also seen people calling them the 35 CS2 chicken skins. We’ll explain that difference below.

How Many CS2 Chicken Skins Are There?
Right now, there are 34 adult chicken color variants shown across three breeds:

The three breeds don’t just change the color of your chicken. They use noticeably different models and feather styles.
Catalana is closest to the classic Counter-Strike chicken.
Silkie has the fluffy, almost fur-like feathers associated with real Silkie chickens.
Polish chickens are easy to recognize because of the large crest of feathers on their head.
Current game-file databases show the same 13 + 12 + 9 breakdown, although additional unused or unavailable variants have also been discovered and could appear later.
All Catalana Chicken Skins in CS2
Catalana currently has the largest selection with 13 known colors:
- Tan
- Dark Orange
- White
- Black with Red Head
- Blue and Light Orange
- Black with White Head
- Light Blue and Red
- Orange with Blue Neck
- Yellow and Red
- Yellow-Red Gradient
- Black
- Blue
- Grey
Catalana is the breed that looks the most like the chickens players are already used to seeing around Counter-Strike maps.
Some of the normal colors look believable for a chicken, while variants such as blue, light blue and red, and yellow-red gradient make the new pet system feel much closer to CS2’s normal cosmetic system.
All Silkie Chicken Skins in CS2
Silkie currently has 9 known colors:
- White
- Orange
- Splash
- Leopard
- Red
- Aqua with Yellow
- Blue with Red Beard
- Purple
- Red Beetle
Silkie is probably the easiest breed to recognize immediately.
Instead of having the smoother feathers of the Catalana chicken, the Silkie model is much fluffier. That makes even relatively simple colors such as white look completely different.
The more unusual variants, including Purple, Aqua with Yellow and Blue with Red Beard, are also some of the most distinctive chicken skins found so far.
All Polish Chicken Skins in CS2
Polish has 12 known color variants:
- Pink
- Brown
- White with Black Head
- Black with White Head
- Brown with Black Wing Tips
- White with Black Wing Tips
- Blue and Yellow
- Blue
- Green with Red Head
- Green
- Orange with Black Stripes
- Orange, White and Blue
The huge feathered crest on the Polish model makes it look completely different from the Catalana and Silkie breeds.
It also has some of the wildest colors currently found in the files, including Pink, Green with Red Head, Blue and Yellow, and Orange, White and Blue.
Are There 34 or 35 CS2 Chicken Skins?
This is where things have become confusing.
You’ve probably seen screenshots or posts referring to “all 35 new chicken skins.”
The current adult chicken breakdown is:
13 Catalana + 12 Polish + 9 Silkie = 34 adult color variants.
The higher number commonly being shared by the community can come from counting the standard chick or another chicken model alongside the 34 adult variants.
That’s why you may see both 34 and 35 depending on the source.
For this guide, we’re counting actual adult breed/color combinations, which currently gives us 34 CS2 chicken skins.
A Reddit post showing the “35 new chicken skins” has already received significant attention, which is likely why the 35 number has spread so quickly.
We’ll update this page if Valve adds or activates more variants.
Do CS2 Chicken Skins Have Rarities?
Probably, but this is one area where we wouldn’t trust exact rarity percentages yet.
Some third-party databases are already assigning rarity levels or estimated percentages to different chicken colors. However, Valve has not published an official chicken rarity table or official odds.
That distinction matters.
With normal weapon cosmetics, CS2 has an established skin rarity order ranging through tiers such as Mil-Spec, Restricted, Classified and Covert.
We don’t yet have enough confirmed information to say that pet chickens follow exactly the same system.
So if you see someone claiming that one specific chicken has an exact 5% drop rate, treat that as third-party or datamined information rather than a Valve-confirmed number.
Some sites are already publishing estimated chicken odds, while others correctly note that Valve has not confirmed a rarity system.
Once enough chickens naturally grow into adults, we’ll have a much better idea of which colors are actually uncommon.
Can You Choose Which Chicken Skin You Get?
There is currently no confirmed way to choose your final chicken breed or color.
The egg itself can have visual differences, but there isn’t enough verified player data yet to prove that a particular egg appearance guarantees a specific adult chicken.
That means an unusual-looking egg should not automatically be treated as proof that you’re getting a rare chicken.
For now, the safest assumption is that your eventual breed and color are determined by the pet system rather than something you manually select.
Do CS2 Chickens Have Pattern Seeds?
There are signs that individual chickens can contain variation data that changes aspects of their appearance, but this should not be confused with the normal weapon-skin system yet.
With regular CS2 skins, a pattern index determines how certain finishes are positioned on the weapon.
Chicken cosmetics appear to use their own system.
PriceEmpire’s current pet database describes chickens as having a hidden seed capable of shifting properties such as hue, saturation, brightness and feather pattern. That could mean two chickens using the same base color don’t always look completely identical.
That’s one of the parts of this system we’ll be watching closely as more pets mature.
Do CS2 Chicken Skins Have Float or Wear?
Not like normal weapon skins.
A normal weapon skin can have a float value and wear condition such as Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested or Battle-Scarred.
There is currently no evidence that pet chickens use those normal wear categories.
So you shouldn’t expect to hatch a Factory New chicken or a Battle-Scarred Silkie.
Chicken color, breed and whatever internal variation system Valve is using appear to be separate from weapon float.
Can You Trade or Sell CS2 Chicken Skins?
Currently, no.
Chicken Eggs and the pets created from them are account-bound rather than normal Steam inventory cosmetics.
That means there is currently no Steam Community Market where you can go buy a Pink Polish chicken or sell a rare-looking Silkie.
This is another major difference between chickens and normal weapon skins.
If Valve ever changes that system, it would obviously have a huge effect on how players look at chicken rarity and value. But right now, claims about buying or selling individual pet chickens should be treated carefully.
How Do You Get a Chicken Skin in CS2?
It starts with a Chicken Egg.
Chicken Eggs began appearing in the Weekly Care Package after the September 22, 2026 Rush Hour update.
Valve’s official update notes detailed Rush, Premier changes, silent reloads and even mentioned that chickens can now take Zeus x27 damage, but the notes did not explain the new pet system.

Once the egg progresses through the pet growth system, its eventual adult chicken is where the breed and color become important.
How Chicken Skins Are Different From Normal CS2 Skins
Despite everyone calling them “skins,” chicken cosmetics currently work very differently from weapon skins.
Normal CS2 weapon skins can have rarity tiers, wear values, paint seeds and applied stickers.

Pet chickens currently appear to be their own cosmetic system.
That means you shouldn’t automatically apply weapon-skin rules to them.
A colorful chicken isn’t necessarily rare. A particular chicken color isn’t confirmed to have a specific market value. And there is currently no normal Steam marketplace for buying and selling them.
Will More CS2 Chicken Skins Be Added?
Very possibly.
Additional chicken variants, cosmetics and accessories have already been found in game data, including several assets that aren’t currently part of the 34-color adult list.
Datamined accessories also reportedly include things such as hats, glasses and helmets, although their presence in the files does not guarantee Valve will release all of them.
Considering how new the pet system is, this page will likely need updating as players hatch and raise more chickens.
For now, the important number is:
3 breeds. 34 adult color variants.
And a lot of unanswered questions.
