CS2 Weekly Drop Reset 2026: Exact Time & How Drops Work

The CS2 weekly drop reset happens every Wednesday at 1:00 AM UTC.

For North America right now, that means:

Pacific: Tuesday at 6 PM
Central: Tuesday at 8 PM
Eastern: Tuesday at 9 PM

If you’re in the UK, that’s 2 AM Wednesday during BST, while most of Central Europe resets at 3 AM during CEST.

The important part is that the reset does not automatically give you a skin or case. It simply starts a new reward week. After the reset, you need to level up your CS2 Profile Rank once to unlock your next Weekly Care Package.

How the CS2 Weekly Drop Actually Works

You need Prime Status to get weekly item drops. Valve’s own Steam page says Prime players are eligible for item drops and weapon cases.

Once the weekly reset happens:

Play an official Valve mode that gives Profile XP
Earn enough XP to reach your next Profile Rank
Your Weekly Care Package unlocks
Pick two rewards from the four shown

That’s it.

Playing ten hours does not give you ten packages. You get one Weekly Care Package per reward week, so once you’ve claimed it, grinding more games does not improve your chances that week.

The Smartest Time to Level Up

Here’s a small trick that actually matters.

Say it’s Tuesday afternoon and your Profile Rank bar is sitting at 4,900 out of 5,000 XP.

Stop playing.

Wait until the weekly reset, earn the last bit of XP and your level-up can immediately trigger the new care package.

If you level up before the reset, that level-up belongs to the old reward week. You’ll then have to work toward another full level after the reset.

Players have been doing this for years, and recent 2026 discussions still confirm that your existing XP progress carries into the next week. It’s the level-up after the reset that matters.

What’s in the Weekly Care Package in 2026?

The weekly pool has changed quite a bit.

Valve added the Harlequin and Achroma Collections to Weekly Care Packages in January 2026 while removing Safehouse, Dust 2, 2018 Nuke and 2018 Inferno.

Then in March, Valve added another interesting possibility: the Dead Hand Terminal can now appear as a weekly drop. The terminal gives access to the Dead Hand Collection, including its new glove pool.

Normal weekly rewards can also include weapon skins, cases and graffiti.

What Should You Pick?

Don’t automatically click the coolest-looking skin.

Take ten seconds and check what the rewards are actually worth.

Cases are often the easy pick because they’re simple to sell or hold, but sometimes a weapon skin has better value, especially with a good wear rating.

If two skins look identical but one is Factory New and the other is Battle-Scarred, their values can be completely different. Our CS2 float and wear guide explains why.

Most weeks, though, don’t expect anything crazy.

Someone on the CS2 subreddit recently posted about finally getting their first genuinely good weekly drop after 2,500 hours, which is a pretty good summary of the experience.

Weekly drops are free. Treat them like that.

Drop Not Showing After You Level Up?

First, make sure:

The weekly reset already happened
You have Prime
You actually gained a Profile Rank, not just XP
You haven’t already claimed this week’s package

Also check Store → Home.

A player in June 2026 thought their drop was broken after earning more than 5,000 XP. It turned out the reward was already waiting in the Store page, and they didn’t even need to restart CS2.
