We checked current Steam Community Market listings in September 2026 and ranked the seven cheapest standard CS2 cases by their starting market price.
One thing matters before getting into the list: the case price is not the full opening cost. Standard CS2 cases also require a key, which currently costs $2.49 in-game.
So a $0.20 case really costs around $2.69 to open.

1. Kilowatt Case – Around $0.19
The Kilowatt Case is the cheapest CS2 case right now, with Steam listings sitting around the $0.20 mark.
That puts a full opening at roughly $2.68 once the $2.49 key is included.
For such a cheap case, the actual skin pool is pretty good.
The two Covert skins are:
- AK-47 | Inheritance
- AWP | Chrome Cannon
It also has the M4A1-S Black Lotus, USP-S Jawbreaker and Zeus x27 Olympus in the lower tiers.
The gold is what really separates Kilowatt from a lot of cheap cases. Instead of spreading the rare-special pool across several knife models, Kilowatt contains Kukri Knives.
That does not improve your overall chance of hitting gold, but it does mean that if you hit a knife, it will be a Kukri.

Best for: The absolute cheapest CS2 case and players who specifically like Kukri Knives.
2. Revolution Case – Around $0.30
The Revolution Case is only slightly more expensive than Kilowatt, normally sitting around $0.30.
With the key included, you are looking at roughly $2.79 per opening.
The main weapon drops are actually pretty recognizable:

- AWP | Duality
- MAC-10 | Sakkaku
But Revolution’s rare special item is gloves instead of knives.
That includes several Sport, Specialist, Driver, Moto, Hand Wrap and Hydra glove finishes.
If you’re specifically trying to pull gloves, Revolution is one of the cheapest ways to open a Valve case with a glove pool.

Best for: Cheap glove openings.
3. Recoil Case – Around $0.40
Next is the Recoil Case, which currently costs around $0.40.
That brings the actual opening price to about $2.89 with the key.
Its two biggest regular drops are:
- USP-S | Printstream
- AWP | Chromatic Aberration
It also has skins like the AK-47 Ice Coaled and P250 Visions.
Like Revolution, the Recoil Case can drop gloves as its rare special item.
So if you’re deciding between the two, Revolution is normally a little cheaper, while Recoil gives you a completely different normal skin pool.
At this end of the market, a difference of ten or twenty cents shouldn’t be the only thing deciding what you open. The $2.49 key makes up most of the cost anyway.
Best for: A cheap glove case with a strong USP-S and AWP at the top.
4. Snakebite Case – Around $0.60
The Snakebite Case currently sits around $0.60, putting an opening at roughly $3.09 total.
The case has a few skins that CS2 players still recognize immediately:
- USP-S | The Traitor
- M4A4 | In Living Color
- AK-47 | Slate
- MP9 | Food Chain
Its rare special item is also gloves.
Snakebite is no longer the absolute cheapest glove case, but the skin pool is one of the more interesting ones in this price range, especially because even some of its lower-rarity skins like the AK-47 Slate remain popular.
Best for: Players who want a cheap case with useful weapon skins throughout the pool.
5. Fracture Case – Around $0.70
The Fracture Case is where the list gets more interesting for knife hunters.
It currently costs around $0.70, or roughly $3.19 including the key.
Its two Covert skins are:
- Desert Eagle | Printstream
- AK-47 | Legion of Anubis
But the bigger reason people still open Fracture is the knife pool.
You can hit:
- Skeleton Knife
- Nomad Knife
- Paracord Knife
- Survival Knife
That makes Fracture one of the cheapest cases on the market with access to the Skeleton Knife.

6. Clutch Case – Around $0.77
The Clutch Case is another cheap glove case, currently hovering around $0.77.
That works out to roughly $3.26 for the case and key combined.
The main weapon skins include:
- M4A4 | Neo-Noir
- MP7 | Bloodsport
- USP-S | Cortex
- AWP | Mortis
- Glock-18 | Moonrise
The rare special pool contains gloves, which has always been the main appeal of the Clutch Case.
The downside is simple: Revolution and Recoil are currently cheaper.
That doesn’t make Clutch a bad case. It just means if your only goal is finding the lowest-priced glove case, there are cheaper choices above it.
Best for: Players who prefer the Clutch skin pool enough to spend a little more.
7. Fever Case – Around $0.92
The Fever Case rounds out our top seven at roughly $0.92, making a full opening around $3.41.
It’s the most expensive case on this list, but it arguably has one of the strongest pools.
The headline skins include:
- AWP | Printstream
- FAMAS | Bad Trip
- Glock-18 | Shinobu
- AK-47 | Searing Rage
The rare special pool contains Skeleton, Nomad, Paracord and Survival Knives, including newer finishes such as Doppler, Marble Fade and Tiger Tooth.
So while Fever isn’t the case to choose if every cent matters, spending less than a dollar on the container still gives you access to a pretty serious knife pool.
Best for: Players willing to spend slightly more for a stronger modern skin and knife lineup.
Does the Cheapest CS2 Case Have the Best Odds?
No.
Buying a cheaper case does not increase your chance of getting a red skin, knife or gloves.
Standard weapon cases use the same general rarity structure. What changes is the value and selection of the items inside each case, not the basic rarity ladder.
That’s why the cheapest case isn’t automatically the best case to open.
Kilowatt may cost less than Fracture, for example, but one contains Kukri Knives while the other contains Skeleton, Nomad, Paracord and Survival Knives.
The case you choose should depend on what you actually want to pull.
And remember that most openings will still land on lower-rarity skins.
How Much Does It Really Cost to Open a Cheap CS2 Case?
This is where people sometimes get fooled by the market price.
If you buy a $0.20 case, you’re not opening it for $0.20.
You still need the key.
A rough example:
$0.20 case + $2.49 key = $2.69 total
Open ten and you are already around $26.90.
Open 100 and the total is around $269.
That is why buying the exact skin you want can often make more sense than repeatedly opening cheap cases.

You can still receive cases through CS2’s Weekly Care Package system rather than buying every case directly from the Steam Market.

Cheap Cases vs Trade Ups
Cases and Trade Up Contracts are completely different ways of chasing higher-tier skins.
A case gives you one random item from its pool.
A normal Trade Up Contract uses lower-rarity skins to produce one item from the next rarity tier, while the newer Covert system can also lead into Gold items.
Neither guarantees profit.

Which Cheap CS2 Case Should You Open?
If you only care about spending as little as possible, Kilowatt is the cheapest CS2 case right now.
For gloves, Revolution gives you one of the lowest entry prices.
For knives, Fracture is still one of the most interesting budget options because of its Skeleton, Nomad, Paracord and Survival knife pool.
And if you’re okay spending slightly more on the case itself, Fever has arguably the strongest overall pool of the seven.
Just don’t confuse a cheap case with cheap case opening.
The key still costs more than most of these cases, and hitting a valuable item is never guaranteed.
