Falcons and G2 meet in the first BLAST Open Porto 2026 quarterfinal on September 4 at the Super Bock Arena in Porto.
It’s a best-of-three with no second chances. The winner moves on to face Spirit in the semifinals on September 5, while the losing team is out of the tournament.
There’s some history here too. Falcons beat G2 2-1 when the teams met at the IEM Cologne Major earlier this year, and several of the same maps are back in play today.

Inferno is an interesting first map because G2 also won it against Falcons at the Cologne Major in June. Falcons answered by winning Dust2 and Ancient to take that series 2-1.
This time, Falcons have picked Dust2 themselves, so the opening two maps are basically a rematch of the first half of that Cologne series.

Falcons are playing with karrigan, kyousuke, m0NESY, NiKo and TeSeS.
G2’s lineup is HeavyGod, huNter-, MATYS, NertZ and r1nkle.
The obvious storyline is NiKo and m0NESY coming up against G2 again. Both spent major parts of their careers with the organization, which makes this matchup a little more interesting than a normal quarterfinal.

How Falcons Reached the Quarterfinal
Falcons made it through Group B after wins over Lynn Vision and Legacy before losing 2-1 to MOUZ in the group winners’ match.
That loss mattered because MOUZ went directly to the semifinals, while Falcons had to settle for a quarterfinal spot.
Their run has not been completely clean, but a lineup featuring NiKo and m0NESY is never one you want to meet in an elimination match.
How G2 Reached the Quarterfinal
G2 had to fight through the lower bracket.
After losing to Spirit, they stayed alive by beating NAVI 2-0 and then took down Aurora 2-1 in the lower bracket final to secure their place in Porto.
That Aurora series went all three maps, with G2 eventually closing it out on Mirage. If today’s series also reaches Mirage, G2 at least have recent experience winning an elimination game there.
Falcons vs G2 Prediction
Falcons are the stronger team on paper and come into the match with the better recent result between these two sides.
They beat G2 2-1 at the Cologne Major and went on to win the entire event. With m0NESY and NiKo both capable of taking over a map, Falcons should have the edge if they play anywhere close to their best.
G2 have looked better as BLAST Open Porto has gone on, though, and their Inferno pick could be important. They already beat Falcons on that map in Cologne.
