CS2 October 8 Update: AUG Buff & Defuse Kit Ping

Published October 9, 2026

Valve’s October 8 CS2 update makes the AUG quicker to reload and gives dropped defuse kits their own ping icon. There are also fixes for Desert Eagle silent reload audio, demo playback and Rush maps.

The patch is small, but its two main changes are useful during rounds where there is little time to spare.

CS2 October 8 Update: AUG Buff & Defuse Kit Ping

What changed with the AUG?

The AUG now reloads 0.5 seconds faster. Valve’s notes list a reload adjustment, with no announced changes to its damage, accuracy, fire rate or price.

For CT players, that means spending less time unable to shoot after emptying a magazine. It could help when holding a position through repeated pushes or reloading before joining a retake. Whether it makes the AUG worth choosing over an M4 still depends on the situation.

If you want to try it in a private practice session, our CS2 give weapon commands guide includes the AUG command. Players looking for a different finish can also browse our best AUG skins.

AUG Buff & Defuse Kit Ping

Dropped defuse kits get a clearer ping

A dropped defuse kit now has a dedicated ping icon, making its location easier to communicate to teammates.

That is particularly helpful after a teammate carrying a kit dies. A surviving CT can point out the kit instead of relying only on a voice call that might get missed during a fight.

There is no announced change to defusing itself. The update improves how players mark the equipment on the ground. For the basics of using a kit and timing a defuse, see our CS2 bomb defusal guide.

Desert Eagle audio and other fixes

Valve corrected a sound event associated with the Desert Eagle’s silent reload. Silent reloading was introduced in September and works by holding the reload key, at the cost of a longer reload.

The patch also addresses buzzing soundscape audio during demo playback. If you are reviewing a match, our CS2 demo controls guide explains how to navigate the replay.

The remaining changes cover:

  • Collision clipping fixes across Rush maps.
  • Updated localization.
  • General stability fixes.

Valve did not detail the individual stability changes, so the notes do not establish that this patch resolves the recent overflow error.
