FURIA vs Falcons: A Final With Two Completely Different Stories
This matchup works because both teams reached the final in very different ways.
FURIA entered the playoffs on the more open side of the bracket, but they still had to prove they deserved the opportunity. They defeated 9z in the quarterfinal before delivering a convincing 2-0 victory against Aurora in the semifinal.
Falcons survived the more dangerous side. They eliminated Vitality in the quarterfinal and then defeated Spirit 2-1 to reach the organization’s first Major Grand Final. Our earlier IEM Cologne Major predictions identified FURIA as a serious finalist because of their bracket position, but Falcons changed the tournament by taking down two of its strongest championship candidates.
This creates two possible endings.
FURIA can complete one of the biggest moments in Brazilian Counter-Strike history, with FalleN leading another roster onto the Major stage. Falcons can finally deliver NiKo his first Major championship while also completing an extremely difficult playoff run.
Players to Watch in the Grand Final
FURIA’s lineup consists of FalleN, KSCERATO, yuurih, YEKINDAR and molodoy. Falcons enter with karrigan, NiKo, m0NESY, TeSeS and kyousuke.
The most obvious individual battle is m0NESY against molodoy. Both players can take control of a map with the AWP, but the pressure of a best-of-five Major final is completely different from an ordinary tournament match.
KSCERATO is another major factor. FURIA do not need him to force every opening duel, but they do need his consistency in late rounds. On the other side, Falcons have multiple players capable of taking over. NiKo and kyousuke can break defensive setups with pure rifle mechanics, while m0NESY creates constant pressure with the AWP.

Why the Best-of-Five Format Matters
Most playoff matches in Cologne were best-of-three series. The Grand Final expands to best-of-five, creating a much deeper test of each roster’s map pool, stamina and ability to adapt.
A team cannot depend on one comfort pick. Coaches must prepare for several possible veto outcomes, and players need to remain focused through a series that could last four or five hours.
Mirage, Inferno and Nuke could become especially important because both finalists have enough experience on those maps to create a close series. Fans unfamiliar with the terminology used by the casters can follow the action more easily with the Mirage callouts guide and Inferno callouts guide.
Utility could also decide the closest rounds. The CS2 smoke practice guide explains how many of the lineups seen during professional matches are created and rehearsed.
What Is at Stake?
The complete IEM Cologne Major featured 32 teams competing for a total prize pool of $1.25 million, with $500,000 awarded to the champion. The runner-up receives $170,000. More importantly, the winning players leave Cologne with a Major title attached to their names forever.
Our full CS2 Major prize pool breakdown explains how the tournament money is distributed.
For Falcons, victory would complete a playoff run that included wins over Vitality and Spirit while finally giving NiKo the missing trophy from his career. For FURIA, it would place this roster permanently inside Brazilian Counter-Strike history and give FalleN another era-defining Major moment.
How to Get More From the Final
Watching a Major final becomes much more interesting when you pay attention to more than the scoreboard.
Watch how each team manages its economy after losing a close round. Notice which map Falcons or FURIA remove first. Follow how quickly teammates trade opening deaths and how defensive setups change after tactical timeouts.
