PGL Masters Bucharest 2026 takes place from October 24 to 31 at PGL Studio Bucharest in Romania. Sixteen CS2 teams will compete through a Swiss group stage and an eight-team playoff bracket, with a best-of-five grand final on October 31.
The opening matches are already set. G2 face NAVI, MOUZ meet Liquid, and FURIA arrive after winning the Thunderpick World Championship.
There is also an important detail behind the advertised $1.25 million: half is player prize money and half is club rewards. pglesports.com

The first matches begin at 10:00 a.m. in Bucharest on October 24. Romania changes its clocks the following day, so avoid using the opening day’s local-time conversion for the whole tournament.
Twelve teams received direct invitations. The four regional qualifier winners were Nemiga from Europe, Liquid from North America, DENDELE from South America and TYLOO from Asia. HLTV.org
How the Swiss stage and playoffs work
The Swiss stage starts with 16 teams. Three series wins secure a playoff place; three series losses mean elimination. Teams are paired against opponents with matching records as the stage progresses.
Every group-stage series is best of three. Losing the opening match therefore does not immediately end a team’s tournament, and winning it does not guarantee qualification.
For example, a team at 2–0 needs one more series victory to advance. A team at 0–2 must win its next series to stay alive.
Eight teams reach the single-elimination playoffs. Quarterfinals and semifinals are best of three, with no lower bracket to recover in after a defeat.
The final is best of five, meaning the first team to win three maps takes the title. A separate best-of-three match decides third place.
Teams and storylines worth watching
Vitality have a stand-in to work around. They head into Bucharest after winning ESL Pro League Season 24, but jL is set to replace apEX while Vitality’s captain steps away for the birth of his child.
That matters beyond swapping one name on the team sheet. ZywOo discussed the team taking more communication responsibility without apEX in an HLTV interview. Their opening match against 9z offers an early look at how that adjustment works.
PGL’s registered roster includes apEX and lists jL as a substitute. For the expected playing five, the individual match listing is more useful than treating every registered player as a confirmed starter.
FURIA bring a fresh tournament win. They defeated BetBoom 3–2 in the Thunderpick World Championship final on October 18. Both finalists are playing in Bucharest, although they have different first-round opponents: FURIA face DENDELE and BetBoom meet Spirit.
That result provides recent form to follow, rather than a guarantee that either team will repeat its run. Counter-Strike
Spirit and MOUZ could cross paths again. Their recent ESL Pro League Season 24 semifinal went to three maps. Both are in this field, but the opening draw does not pair them together. daddyskins.com
If you are choosing a first-day viewing slot, G2 against NAVI is another option. It is an opening Swiss match, so the losing side will still have a route forward.
Which maps are being played?
The event map pool is Ancient, Anubis, Cache, Dust2, Inferno, Mirage and Nuke.
These are the available maps, not a fixed running order. Each series has its own veto, so an opening-match announcement does not confirm which maps the teams will play.
For viewers, the veto gives useful context before the first pistol round: which map each side removes, which it selects, and what remains as the potential decider. A best-of-three series can finish after two maps if one team wins both.
Prize money and club rewards explained
PGL’s official winnings table separates the total into $625,000 in player prize money and $625,000 in club rewards.
| Finish | Player prize money | Club reward | Combined |
|---|---|---|---|
| First | $225,000 | $225,000 | $450,000 |
| Second | $100,000 | $100,000 | $200,000 |
| Third | $68,750 | $68,750 | $137,500 |
| Fourth | $43,750 | $43,750 | $87,500 |
| Fifth to eighth, each | $25,000 | $25,000 | $50,000 |
All amounts are USD. The headline $1.25 million describes the combined event total. It should not be presented as money paid entirely to players. pglesports.com
